“Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue and a sixpence in your shoe.” Elated brides hear the saying, "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue and a sixpence in your shoe. It is a poem that dates back to the Victorian era. “Something old” represents the bond between the bride's family and her life prior to her wedding; the “new” represents the good fortune, success and happiness that she will have in her marriage; the “borrowed” is something borrowed from a family member or a friend that serves as a reminder of support from loved ones; the “blue” represents constancy, fidelity and loyalty that the newlyweds share as husband and wife. Many brides choose to wear their mother’s or grand-mother’s vintage wedding gowns and jewelry. As Vivian’s Vision, we showcase a variety of Wedding Jewelry Designs that will encompass these four items in a trendy, yet fashionable way. Linking the bride to her family and friends, something old represents continuity. At Vivian’s Vision, Austrian Swarovski crystals are a classic collectible and choice for many years to come. “Something new” encourages the bride’s perspective on happiness and prosperity. At Vivian’s Visions, there are many jewelry designs to choose from. However, it is important to consider the style and neckline of your special wedding dress. Here are some names of various necklines: This wedding gown neckline, as the name connotes, features a gown with a single strap or an asymmetric neckline. The bateau, or boat neck, connects at the edges of the shoulders, leaving a long neckline that runs from shoulder to shoulder along the collarbone. This sleek style can either be strapless or have any length of sleeve. This neckline features two straps that connect from the bodice to the back of the neck. There are many options with the halter, as it can be a variation of the square neckline where the straps pull from a horizontal bodice. A high collar covers the chest and can either end just below the neck or extend up the neck. Having a high collar on your wedding dress will create a formal and elegant look. This round neckline flows along the base of the neck. The Queen Anne features a high collar at the back and sides of the neck, slowly curving down into a low, open heart shaped neckline. Off the shoulder dresses do just that, hang off the shoulder. The neckline encircles your torso, wrapping around the outside of your upper arms, just below the shoulder. Similar to the off-the-shoulder neckline, the portrait wedding gown neckline offers a wide, soft scoop, to frame the shoulders. This basic neckline arcs down from one shoulder to the other in a "U" shape. Much like the v-neck, the scoop can be as deep or as high as you feel comfortable with, depending on the amount of skin you want to expose. The square neckline has a straight horizontal bodice that meets with straps in a 90 degree angle. This simple neckline extends from one underarm to the other without the support of straps. The sweetheart neckline gets its name from the way it arcs, connected between them in a "V" and creating what looks like the top of a heart. This style is most commonly found on strapless dresses. The V-neck drops the neckline down in a "V" shape between the shoulders. This neckline can range from very subtle to plunging, depending on how revealing you want your dress to be. When you choose a Vivian’s Vision jewelry piece, I will recommend the various necklines which will flatter each design. Please do remember that not all necklines are similar when ordering your bridesmaid’s jewelry designs. And custom orders can take up to 5 weeks for production. Although this time frame can vary depending on the quantity ordered, workmanship involved and inventory of materials. Other points to consider when purchasing your wedding jewelry include: - Theme of wedding
