Sponsored by prevent Child Abuse Iowa, this year will mark the 5th annual Pottery for Prevention®, a fundraising gala event that has grown in size, reputation, and success every year. It takes place on Friday, November 7th, 2008 in Des Moines, Iowa. Last year Pottery for Prevention raised more than $62,000 for Prevent Child Abuse Iowa, and was attended by more than 350 people. Held in downtown Des Moines, this gala evening features pottery designed by Iowa artists that is auctioned with proceeds benefiting Prevent Child Abuse Iowa.

There will be a spread for gourmet hors d'oeuvres from fine restaurants and guest jazz musicians, with silent and live auctions featuring pottery designed by Iowa artists and exciting gift packages. In 2007, Prevent Child Abuse Iowa's child abuse prevention programs assisted 10,000 adults and 56,000 children in 91 Iowa counties. It is my hope that my contribution will make a real difference in the lives of children and families throughout Iowa.
